the South African Way

Lee and Caryn van Deventer

My hubby and I are two South African's who met each other in the state of Utah...of all places. Then to top it off we were blessed to win a greencard! . Miracles happen! So now we get to stay and experience life in a new and exciting place, with different adventures and blogging all about it!

Med school: week 2

Well as expected, med school has already had its ups and downs. So far I have had an exam in embryo and have been studying all weekend for my bio chem exam on Monday. Some days I feel completely overwhelmed and other days I feel on top of the world. But I am sure there will be more overwhelming days than not. Thank goodness for my amazing hubby! He has been so supportive and helpful.

As for arizona, we are loving it. We have a pool in the backyard at the house we are staying at, which has been a life saver! All Lee can say about the place is: "It's so hot!" Then I laugh and agree with him, cause it really is quite warm this end of the world. Poor mini has her little paws being burnt on the scorching pavements.

This coming week we are starting gross anatomy. I am both anxious and excited about walking into a room with dead bodies lying on the tables. But like any woman I decided I needed to be fully prepared and went shopping for the appropriate ensemble. So even though I swore I would never buy a pair of crocs, I now have a pair sitting in my living room. But I am pretty sure my cadavier will not mind. Dissecting starts Monday, and I am sure in a couple of weeks I will be very grateful to the person who gave me the opportunity to learn from them.

Mini getting kisses.
Since it has been so hot, like 120 Fahrenheit, mini got a short cut yesterday with glitter bows. So cute.

I am going to try be better at updating our blog more regularly, but we will see how that goes in med school.

Love to all. We miss you!
